Kuamamoto Manga Arts: Ink Your Own Manga

Try your hand at professional inking on sample manga frames from classic works like Fist of the North Star, Cat's Eye, and City Hunter.
Kumamoto native and Coamix Inc. president Nobuhiko Horie opened Kumamoto Manga Arts Gallery & Theater in December 2024 at Shimotori Arcade in Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City. This entertainment facility combines a manga-themed art gallery and a theater that is home to the 096k Kumamoto Drama Company theater troupe. As a Weekly Shonen Jump editor, Nobuhiko worked with artists like Tetsuo Hara and Tsukasa Hojo to introduce many popular masterpieces to the world, such as Fist of the North Star, Cat's Eye, and City Hunter. Now you can use the same tools as the pros to try inking famous panels from these works yourself. Although most work is done digitally now, the staff will explain the basics of how manga are created, and guests will be able to try their hand drawing with old-fashioned dip pens and ink on special paper.
